Dalton man arrested for DUI after failing to maintain a single and driving with no headlights on

According to a Dalton Police Department incident report, On February 15th, 2023, at 2:18 AM, Officer Cook witnessed a white Tacoma without headlights pass by Hamilton Street and Hamilton Ext. The Tacoma then made an abnormally large and wide right turn by going over into the oncoming lane of traffic onto Bryant Ave. Officer Cook initiated a traffic stop and could already smell the odor of alcohol coming from the driver’s immediate area. Officer Cook reported, “[I] introduced myself and asked if he, Kenneth Mason Cloud, of Dalton, had anything to drink. He stated, “Yes, a few”. [I] noticed that Cloud had mud on his shoes and pants. He also had black paint on his fingers. MPO McBrayer arrived as [I] was having Cloud step out of his vehicle. During field sobriety tests, Cloud showed several signs of impairment and showed a BAC of .140 on a PBT. Cloud was taken into custody for DUI and refused the state test. Cloud was booked into the Whitfield County Jail, charged with headlights required before sunrise, failure to maintain lane, and DUI – alcohol less safe.
