Dalton man arrested for DUI after driving at a high rate of speed down Walnut Avenue

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On March 5th, 2023, at 3:45 AM, Sergeant Southern conducted a traffic stop at East Walnut Avenue and Martin Luther King Jr Boulevard on a black Chevrolet Silverado after observing the vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed at 70 mph. According to the report, “As the truck was coming over the hill, the driver would not have been able to see any other vehicles or obstructions in the roadway and would not have had time to react appropriately based on its speed. The driver was identified as Juan Fraire Jr., 23, of Dalton. Juan stated that he was coming from his “homies crib,” where he had been playing FIFA on PlayStation. Sgt. Southern observed two open Modelo bottles in the cupholders. One was empty, and the other was almost completely full. Sgt. Southern asked Juan if he had been drinking at his homie’s crib. Juan stated that he only had six beers before driving.” During field sobriety tests, Juan showed several signs of impairment. Juan was then placed under arrest for DUI, and he refused the state test.
