Cohutta man arrested after call of suspicious people leads to brief pursuit with Cohutta Police

According to a Cohutta Police Department incident report, On February 1st, 2023, at 12:49 PM, Lt. Ryan Fowler was speaking with two male subjects, later identified as Dylan L. Davis, 31, of Cohutta, and Jeffery William Pock, of North Carolina, that had come over from an abandoned property on King Street. A citizen had called and stated they were being suspicious of the property. Lt Fowler was assisted by Officer Chambers while he went running their information through GCIC and NCIC. Lt Fowler advised them not to drive away and that they were detained. While Officer Chambers was speaking with them, Davis said he had left his stove on at his house on Wilson Caldwell Rd. Davis then proceeded to speed off with officers giving him lawful orders to stop. Officers pursued Davis back to King St and then to Red Clay Road northbound. The officer got the vehicle stopped at 5186 Red Clay Road. Officer Chambers and Lt. Fowler took both occupants at gunpoint and then pulled Davis from the truck and placed him on the ground taking him into custody. Pock’s North Carolina ID card was run through NCIC and came back ID only with a warrant through Carter County SO. Davis then admitted that he had ingested several THC gummies prior to speaking with Lt. Fowler in the parking lot of the Cohutta PD. Davis was then transported to the Whitfield County Jail and charged with misdemeanor obstruction law enforcement officers x2, failure to obey person directing traffic, fleeing/attempting to elude police, and driving less safe.
