Chickamauga teenager arrested for DUI again after crashing into ditch in Walker County

According to a Walker County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On December 10th, 2022, at 6:06 AM, Deputy Barkley was dispatched to the area of North Marble Top and Diamond Drive in reference to a vehicle crash. According to the report, Dispatch had received multiple calls about a blue 2005 Dodge Caravan that had crashed and was halfway in the roadway on North Marble Top Road. One of the callers advised the driver (Anthony Charles Peco, 18, of Chickamauga) was intoxicated.
Deputy Barkley reported, “Peco stated he was traveling southbound on North Marble Top and his brakes went out, and the only thing he knew to do was to swerve toward the ditch. While speaking to Mr. Peco, [I] detected what [I] believe to be the strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from his person. [I] also observed that his eyes were bloodshot and he had a slow deliberate speech he was also unsteady on his feet. Due to the extensive damage of the vehicle, [I] knew the vehicle would be inoperable, and [I] asked for the next listed tow truck to be in route. [I] asked him if he had anything to drink, [I] explained to him that [I] could smell what [I] believe to be an alcoholic beverage coming from his person and also informed him that [I] noticed his eyes were bloodshot. Mr. Peco then admitted to having a few drinks, and he stated that he is underage and he’s already had two DUI’s.” During field sobriety tests, Peco showed several signs of impairment and was placed under arrest for DUI. Peco was booked into the Walker County Jail, charged with DUI alcohol under 21, and failing to maintain a single lane.
