Calhoun teen arrested for DUI after domestic dispute in Gordon County

According to a Gordon County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On April 30th, 2023, at 10:34 PM, Deputy Martin responded to Old Rome Dalton Road in reference to a physical domestic dispute. While en route to the residence, Gordon E911 advised the suspect, Damian Lamar Bastin, 18, of Dalton, that a juvenile was leaving the residence and heading toward Pocket Road. Gordon E911 advised the complainant on scene advised Damian had been drinking alcohol. Deputy Martin then observed a 2008 Kia Rio traveling north on Old Rome Dalton Road at a high rate of speed. Deputy Martin conducted a traffic stop and made contact with the driver Damian. Deputy Martin could smell a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from Damian. Deputies detained Damian after speaking with the caller regarding what had occurred. Deputy Martin observed at the 1707 mail box number there was a 30-pack of open Busch beers lying in the northbound lane that appeared to have recently been thrown out. According to the report, “Deputy Martin asked Damian how much he had to drink, and Damian could not think of a number of beers he had to drink. Damian stated he was drinking the regular Busch Beers, and the Light Beer gives him headaches.” Damian then showed a BAC of .184 on a PBT. Damian was placed under arrest for DUI and agreed to the state test. Damian was transported to the Gordon County Jail, where he showed a BAC of .170. Damian was charged with DUI under 21, and under 21 of age consumption of alcohol.
