Belligerent New York man threatens deputies during DUI traffic stop on I-75 in Whitfield County

According to a Whitfield County Sheriff’s Office incident report, On July 30th, 2023, at 6:16 PM, the Whitfield County 911 Center (dispatch) advised a BOLO for a white Audio SUV with the “back window missing” failing to maintain lane and “all over the road”, traveling southbound on I-75 in the area of mile marker 328. Deputy Dennison located the vehicle passing exit 326 and he could see that the vehicle was “all over the road”. Deputy Dennison stopped the vehicle in the area of mile marker 323, and Lt. Gibson later arrived on scene to assist with the traffic stop.  Deputy Dennison made contact with the driver, later identified as Arkiem McClain, 37, of New York, New York. McClain was very agitated with Deputy Dennison for stopping him. Deputies observed McClain stagger, his eyes were bloodshot, and his speech was slurred. McClain stated that he had not consumed any alcoholic beverages before driving. During Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN), Lt Gibson observed several signs of impairment. McClain showed more signs of impairment in the other field sobriety tests, and was placed under arrest for DUI. McClain then became extremely belligerent with deputies refusing to answer questions. According to the report, “Lt. Gibson then read Mr. McClain the Georgia Implied Consent Notice for Suspects age 21 and over. While reading the notice, Mr. McClain was very irate and belligerent toward Lt. Gibson saying phrases such as “suck my d**k white boy”, “I beat the s**t out of you”, “I’ll f**k your wife”, “your mother’s a f***ing b***h”, and “white boy, shut the f**k up”. Lt. Gibson then asked if Mr. McClain would submit to the state administered chemical test of his blood, breath, and urine, but Mr. McClain would not give an answer. Lt. Gibson advised Mr. McClain that he just needed a yes or no answer, and Mr. McClain responded by saying, “I just need you to suck my d**k”.” Deputies located an open container of alcohol in the cup holder. Lt. Gibson also discovered a zip-loc bag containing marijuana. Deputies then located McClain, who was laying face down in the backseat. McClain would not respond to Lt. Gibson. Lt. Gibson then woke McClain up, and due to McClain’s level of intoxication, he requested that McClain sit up in the seat. According to the report, “After sitting up in his seat, Mr. McClain informed Lt. Gibson that he needed to go to the hospital. Lt. Gibson asked what his complaint was, and Mr. McClain stated “abuse”. While en route to the jail, Mr. McClain continued to be belligerent toward Lt. Gibson saying phrases such as, “I will f**k you up bro. I’m gonna f**k you up.”, “little white p***y”, “I will beat the ever loving s**t out you”, “I hope somebody shoot you in your f***ing head”, “f***ing p***y”.” McClain continued to make racial and threatening comments as he threw his temper tantrum calling deputies “cracker”. He even stated, “I should have shot you in your f***ing face, white boy.” McClain was extremely uncooperative with booking staff at the jail. McClain was charged with failure to maintain lane DUI/alcohol/less safe, open container of alcohol, driving while unlicensed, no insurance, and terroristic threats and acts.
